Confessions of a Potty Training Failure (& Giveaway)

Disclosure: I am doing this review in exchange for a one-year subscription of the KidloLand Nursery Rhymes App. I love being honest about all my reviews so all opinions really are my own! I’m a failure. I can put up beautiful pictures of my kids on Facebook and show happy moments, but it hides the truth. I suck! Well, more specifically, I suck at potty training my children. It all started when I tried to potty train my oldest, Ginny. She was two and therefore ready to start learning how to use the potty, or so I thought. Ginny did

Odd Things About Me

I’m a sucker. I’m a sucker for every little survey or quiz found on Facebook. Resist? Never. Resistance is futile (yes, I’m a geek). I want to know who should be my best friends for life and where I should live for the rest of my life. These are all-important, life-altering decisions! It helps to have an unbiased source in my decision-making. I’m positive that my favorite color and my favorite animal will tell me if I can survive the zombie apocalypse.   In the last couple of days, I’ve seen friends posting answers to a list of questions. I tried

15 Fantastically Funny Facebook Posts: 6th Edition

Between soccer, playdates, Kindergarten registration, and thunderstorms, it has been a busy week in my world. Having three kids keeps me busy. Having three kids who need to go places makes life a bit insane. Is it too late to reconsider this parenthood thing?  While I do question parenthood sometimes, I would never trade it for the world. After all, my kids give me lots of material to write. Okay, not really (well, yeah, kind of). I do love my three girls. They make life interesting, fun, and  frustrating. When I need to escape the insanity, I go to Facebook

Enough is Enough

This morning as I scrolled through trending topics on Facebook, I saw a name attached to a hashtag. Silently I said to myself, “Oh no. Not another one.” For it seems that anytime a person dies in a violent act, their name includes a hashtag. And now, two days in a row, I’ve seen two names with hashtags, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, both black men shot to death by police officers. Normally, on this blog, I avoid writing about politics, race, and religion. It’s not that I don’t hold an opinion. I do. In fact, I state my opinion clearly

19 Ideas for Enjoying “Me Time”

19 Ideas for Enjoying “Me Time”

Disclosure: I’m a member of the Netflix #StreamTeam which means that they pay for the streaming service in exchange for me posting once a month about the service. All opinions are my own.  Let me let you in on a little secret. Once you become a stay-at-home parent, you lose something precious you probably didn’t value enough. No, not money (although you do lose some of that). No, not sex with your partner, although that may happen less often. Who has energy for that after several days with little sleep? You lose “me time,” those quiet moments where you can

10 Tips to Survive a Long Road Trip with Kids

10 Tips to Survive a Long Road Trip with Kids

Disclaimer: There are some Amazon Affiliate links throughout this post. If you click the link and make a purchase, I would get a small commission. Just enough for me to indulge in my favorite guilty pleasure, Taco Bell. This post was not influenced by my craving for Taco Bell at all. All opinions are my own, as always. Since my oldest daughter was a baby, my husband and I have driven to Florida once a year to visit my family. And, actually, one year we drove down twice. Are we insane? No, we are cheap. Well, not cheap, but flying

Summer Bucket List 2016

Summer Bucket List 2016

School has come to an end (at least where I live). The temperatures have risen. It’s clear that summer is coming. And, just like last year, I have a lot I want to do. While I didn’t do everything I wanted to last summer, I think I can get it all done this year. Most of my list this year centers around my family. That shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.   Swimming One of the best things about moving to my new town is the number of public swimming pools, all within 10 minutes of where I live. I’m

Don’t Ever Tell Me How to Feel

“Why do you let them upset you in that way? You can’t change them; you can only change how you respond.” Livid, I clicked “reply” to answer the person, then sat back to see if I could articulate what made me angry about those words. Unable to put it into words, I instead asked the person to drop it. It was the third similar response in a back and forth conversation with one person. I had vented in an online forum about a situation I had recently encountered.  As I thought on matters, I figured out what bugged me about

Pushing Myself

Pushing Myself

Here it is. Another year, another resolution to get in shape. It seems I do this every year. I promise myself that this will be the year I get in amazing shape, and, hopefully, by the grace of God and hard work, lose weight. Every. Single. Year. Unlike others, I don’t make this sort of pledge at the beginning of the year. Since I don’t have a gym membership (much less the budget for one), I think it’s silly to tell myself I’ll do something when it’s clear it won’t get done. At least, not in winter. I always make

Foto Friday

Foto Friday

Have you every had one of those weeks where you completely lose track of time? Before you know what hit you, it’s already Friday and you still didn’t accomplish what you wanted on Wednesday? That is my life this week. It’s sped by too fast; unusual for a week when my husband is on overnight shifts. In fact, it has sped by quickly since last Friday when I headed to St. Louis for an overnight trip with my girls (solo parenting, I might add!). I meant to share what we did in St. Louis with a Wordless Wednesday post, but I failed. Miserably.
