Disclosure: I’m a member of the Netflix #StreamTeam which means that they pay for the streaming service in exchange for me posting once a month about the service. All opinions are my own.
Toward the end of January, I got an amazing and unexpected email. It was from Netflix inviting me to be a member of their Stream Team.
What is the Netflix Stream Team? We are a group of bloggers who stream Netflix selections and then write about it once a month.
Having never used Netflix, I was particularly thrilled by the opportunity. After all, I’m an unapologetic fan of T.V. and a huge movie lover. I couldn’t wait! Unfortunately, I had to wait nearly a month before my Roku box and subscription information arrived. When it did arrive at the end of February, I had the plague (slight exaggeration, only slight) and wasn’t interested in doing much with it at first.
My husband, though, took full advantage of Netflix with our girls, particularly Ginny. She loves Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. In the real world of television, Daniel is not on at any time you want him to be. Chris found the show on Netflix and streamed it; making our very nearly 3-year-old extremely happy!
A couple of days later, as I was eating toast with honey for breakfast, Ginny, inspired by the honey, decided that she just HAD to watch Winnie the Pooh. After we were done eating, I looked on Netflix and, sure enough, I found the full length feature that I watched as a little girl. Ginny and Grace were thrilled and enchanted by Pooh on a morning when I had little energy because I was still recovering from the stomach flu.
My girls are not the only ones in our home enjoying our new “toy.” I ended up adding 36 shows and movies to my list to watch. I started by watching the Sherlock series and now I’m revisiting Highlander and the original Battlestar Galactica. (You didn’t realize I’m a sci-fi geek, did you?) I love being able to catch up with programs or movies I’ve wanted to see and revisit old favorites.
In the months to come, I hope to share with you all the great programming we discover. I’d also love it if you share your suggestions with me.
Do you have Netfix? If so, what have been your favorite things to watch? What do your kids enjoy?
