New Year, New on Netflix

One month into the New Year and I’m still struggling to write the correct year on all documents and checks. I’ve even been known to “think” it is still 2017. But time continues to move despite my ability to adapt. Thank goodness for some things to look forward to in 2018 to help me get on track. In fact, it will be a busy year for me: vacation to Disney World, Pampered Chef conference for consultants, and being the bridesmaid in a friend’s wedding, to name a few.

Thank goodness I can find a few minutes here and there to stream some of my favorite shows and movies on Netflix! It’s a nice way for me to relax and unwind. In the last few weeks, I’ve streamed The Good Witch and Godless as well as the first season of Lost Girl. And a new year means new shows and movies on Netflix plus the return of some favorites.

Here are some shows I am looking forward to streaming this year on Netflix:

Jessica Jones (Season 2, March 8)

For the last several months I’ve been impatiently waiting for the second season of Jessica Jones. To say I loved the first season would be an understatement. While seeing Jessica kick some serious ass in The Defenders was great, it was not enough for me. Luckily, I don’t have much longer to wait. Let the countdown begin.

Altered Carbon (Season 1)

This series recently debuted on Netflix. I haven’t started it yet, but will soon. The show takes place more than 300 years in the future where death is no longer permanent due to technological advances. These advances allow people to transfer their consciousnesses to new bodies, allowing them to live forever.

Seven Seconds (Season 1, February 23)

Crime drama is one of my favorite genres. This one takes us behind the headlines focusing on the death of a 15-year-old African-American boy in Jersey City that sets up a police cover up and search for truth.New Year, New on Netflix

Lost in Space (Season 1, mid-2018)

When I learned that Parker Posey would be playing Dr. Smith in this reboot of the original TV show from the 1960s, I knew I had to watch it. And for those of you who don’t remember the original show, it follows a family as they try to survive in outer space and return home.

Ugly Delicious (February 23)

This documentary series follows renowned chef and James Beard Award winner David Chang as he searches for the most delicious food around the world.

When We First Met

This romantic comedy film explores the premise of going back to make different choices. In this case, a young man ends up in the “friend zone” after spending an amazing night with the girl of his dreams. He can’t figure out what he did wrong to get there and goes back time and again (a la Groundhog Day) until he gets it right.

Ellen DeGeneres: Stand-Up Special

The first time I saw Ellen DeGeneres she was performing as a stand-up on The Tonight Show (with Johnny Carson). I couldn’t stop laughing and wanted to see more. While her comedy chops have helped her with her sitcom and her talk show, there is nothing that compares to her stand-up comedy. I’m thrilled that her special will air on Netflix later this year.

As an addendum, I also hope that Stranger Things comes out with Season 3 this year and Godless with a second season. Time will tell. What Netflix shows are you looking forward to this year?
