Being an Older Mom

If you asked me what my life plans were when I graduated from high school, I would have been clear: go to college, get a degree, get a job in my field, plus meet someone amazing, marry, and have kids. All before 30, of course.

Being an Older MomWell, life didn’t turn out as I expected. It took me much longer to find the right man for me, at a time when I accepted that children were likely not in my future.

Life has lots of twists and turns. Some people go the “traditional” path, but still others, like me, aren’t able to find the path we hope for as quickly.

Today, I talk about being an older mom on Project: Underblog I began writing the post as a response to a few comments I saw from different people about women my age being selfish for even having children. Instead of lashing out in anger at the ignorant comments, I wrote from the heart about my path.

Again, please check out my newest post on Project: Underblog, Confessions of an “Older” Mom.

About Denise

Hi! I'm Denise, a 40+ year old SAHM trying to navigate the world of motherhood. I blog about parenting, food, and have been featured a few times on BlogHer. I enjoys solving mysteries (Okay..reading mysteries or watching them on TV), cooking, and drinking way too much caffeine than I should. Basically, anything I needs to do to survive the toddler years.

    1. Yeah, I was beyond pissed. When I started writing, it came from an angry place, but I scrapped that and wrote from my heart. I missed your other post. I’m friends with other older moms who have run into that as well. It hasn’ happened to me…yet.
