I had a pleasant enough week. It was fairly quiet and uneventful. I got some Christmas baking done; making oatmeal raisin, oatmeal chocolate chip. and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies plus divinity.
My husband was on overnight shifts all week. I hate those shifts. They are a necessary evil, but I never sleep well when DH is on these shifts. The nice feature to
these shifts is he is home during the day. On Wednesday we took advantage of that fact. We went shopping to get Toddler #1 some new boots. She was very excited! Then we had lunch at Chili’s as part of a fundraiser for our parish’s school. A tasty way to give back.
Once again, my family has left the comforts of home to go elsewhere. On Friday, we left our small town in Illinois to head for an even smaller town in the middle of Iowa. Why would we do such a thing? To visit my in-laws who live in Iowa, naturally. We are celebrating Christmas with each other a bit early. We celebrated Christmas Eve yesterday and today is our Christmas day, full of presents and good food.
Posts I Made This Week
Tuesday: I shared a slow cooker recipe I found for Pork Loin with Apple Gravy. So easy and delicious.
Wednesday: A Boy, A Girl, and The Marine Corps gave me the opportunity to guest post on her blog. I did so with my ultimate gift guide.
Thursday: I’m looking for guest bloggers now. If you think you might be interested, stop by my post, Call for Guest Bloggers to get more details.
Friday: Finding gifts for men can be difficult if not impossible. That is why I searched and searched for gift ideas, I found several and published them in 11 Amazing Gifts for Him.
Blogs of the Week
I read quite a few blogs this week. Here are a few I want to share:
Enjoy It While It Lasts… A sweet reminder that our kids grow up too fast and we should enjoy them while we can.
Santa Reincarnated I loved the way this mom revealed “the truth” about Santa to her 11-year-old son. Brilliant. Just brilliant.
I’m a SAHM and No, We’re Not Rich The title says it all, but the text says so much more.
We’ll be staying in Iowa until Tuesday then we head home. It is likely I will share post about one of our Christmas traditions. I have one more gift guide coming up, for toddlers, and a couple of recipes, including a Sweet Saturday recipe for cookies.
