Wow! We are fully in November now, heading full steam ahead to Thanksgiving! I love Thanksgiving. To me, Thanksgiving is all about spending time with family. This year, for the first time since I got married four years ago, I will be going to spend Thanksgiving with my family. We don’t leave for another couple of weeks, but I can’t wait! I’m getting very excited at the prospect of spending time with my parents, my niece and nephew, my sister and BIL, and my aunt and uncle. It has been a long time. I’ve missed that familial energy. My parents have come up twice for Thanksgiving, but it isn’t the same as a full house, you know what I mean?
This week was a special one. My youngest, Grace, turned 1 on Tuesday. She is so precious! I find it hard to believe a full year has passed. We had cupcakes and sang to her, something Ginny loved doing. Ginny also loved helping her baby sister open her presents. Since Tuesday, she has claimed all of Grace’s presents as her own. Grace is learning from her sister though. She takes the toys she wants, when she wants, often out of Ginny’s hands. Now I have 2 toddlers playing by toddler rules. Needless to say, there was a lot of time spent in time out for Ginny and isolation for Grace. At least they still give each other lots of hugs when they are not being territorial over toys.
I’m also continuing with NaBloPoMo. So far, so good. I’ve posted every day. 10 days down, 20 more to go. Last week I told you about some topics I would write about, and then didn’t write them. I did intend to do so. Does that count? I just tend to be a very organic writer. I need to be “feeling” it to write about it. Also, sometimes some other topics come to mind usurping my previous ideas.
Posts I Made This Week
Monday: I cooked up a delicious pasta recipe that I saw on “The Chew” by Michael Symon, Fresh Rigatoni with Chorizo! Oh, so good. I look forward to making it again, soon.
Tuesday: We celebrated Grace turning 1 today. I recalled How I Spent My Baby’s Birthday just one year ago.
Wednesday: I shared my week in pictures through Wordless Wednesday. I had great pictures of Halloween, Grace’s birthday, and my time out of the house.
Thursday: There are times I’m overwhelmed with my loss of personal space in my house due to having children. I discussed my frustrations in Losing Myself. Then, a good friend sent me a pin on Pinterest. Boy, I wish I could afford that! A girl can dream though, right?
Friday: I did a Flashback Friday segment by finally publishing something I originally posted as a guest post for Epic Mommy, 5 Things That Make Toddlers Fabulous (and Drive Us Nuts!).
Saturday: Yesterday I shared a sweet and easy dessert that takes less than 10 minutes to make. I call it Denise’s “Almost” Sopapillas. You should really check them out.
Blogs of the Week
With NaBloPoMo, I’m running out of time to read blogs. How frustrating and sad, but I did read a few that stood out,
Marriage Momo Fail writes a letter to her nephew about what marriage is. So lovely.
He Tried to Dump Me, We Got Married Instead Funny but true story that would make a good romantic comedy in the movies some day,
For When You Don’t Have Time to Look at The Sunset A reminder to not take what we have for granted; chores, etc can wait.
Reasons Why You Should Not Copy Anything From My Blog Someone copied Jhanis’s About page. Say what? She lets them know that is NOT okay.
This week I’ll be posting a favorite recipe of mine for lemon ricotta pancakes. I also have 1-2 more recipes I’m likely to post, including another Sweet Saturday posting. Additionally, I plan on accepting an award I received recently. Beyond that I can honestly say I’m not quite sure what I will be writing about this week. I’ll come up with something I’m sure, even if it means writing to a prompt, something I typically avoid, but when you are desperate for writing ideas you do what is needed. So, let’s think of this as a week full of blogging surprises. 🙂
