As hard as it is to believe, the Christmas season is coming. Every year the weekend after Thanksgiving, my husband, Chris, and I decorate our home for Christmas! The next few weeks will be spent preparing for Christmas; fitting since it is Advent. We start reading our girls stories about the meaning of Christmas. We work on our Christmas cards. We visit Santa Claus and get our shopping done. One of my favorite activities during the holidays is baking Christmas cookies. I usually bake much more than we can ever eat; sending the extra cookies with Chris to work. I’ve yet to hear is co-workers complain.
When my husband and I were dating, we talked a lot about cooking. We both enjoyed it; him more than me, to be honest. While I liked to cook, I never found cooking for one to be fun. I found it frustrating. My husband, on the other hand, liked trying out new recipes despite only cooking for himself. He enjoyed cooking so much that he subscribed to Taste of Home magazine. Before I met him, I had never heard of that magazine. It was an eye-opener. Lots of recipes submitted by readers nationwide. Now, five years later, we still subscribe to
Years ago, during my senior year in high school, I worked at the Original Cookie Company at the mall. It was a lot of fun and even led to a boy I dated briefly. I never attempted to find
After a week of traveling and spending time with family, it was good to be home this week. My week was fairly quiet for a change, thank goodness. On Monday, my husband returned to work, for only 3 days. Then, on Thursday, DH and I spent our morning and afternoon cleaning and picking up around the house. I wanted everything clean before we pulled out the Christmas decorations. With that done, we were able to put up our tree and other decorations on our fireplace mantel during nap time. Part of me is a little sad this year. Our decorations
My husband and I love cookies. They are a regular purchase for us at the grocery store. Recently, it occurred to me that we would probably save money if we made our own cookies. Now, we are making a concerted effort to bake cookies, each taking turns. Last week, DH baked chocolate chip cookies for him and Ginny. (I don’t eat chocolate chip cookies because I don’t really like chocolate.) This week was my turn. I decided to try a new recipe that I had long ago pinned on my Sweet Tastes board on Pinterest. The cookies were called Outrageously
