Teaching My Toddlers Manners

Toddlers do not always follow rules, much less the niceties of society. Part of the reason for their lack of manners is they need to learn them still.  (The other is they have poor impulse control, something my oldest made me aware of recently.) My husband and I do what we can to teach our daughters empathy and manners. We started teaching manners soon after they were born by modeling good manners through our own behavior to each other and others.  As they hit the pre-verbal stage, we would encourage them to say phrases such as, “Thank you,” “Excuse me,”
