Once again, it is Sunday and time for a summary of my week in life and in blogging. My husband took this past week off of work, which has been wonderful. I married him for a reason and love getting extra time with him. However, we were both busy this week. As I mentioned last week, we were in Iowa with my in-laws celebrating Christmas. On Sunday, the girls opened their gifts from their grandparents and aunt and uncle. They were thrilled. Ginny received a Doc McStuffins tent and a Minnie Mouse tea set, but her favorite gift was a
I had a pleasant enough week. It was fairly quiet and uneventful. I got some Christmas baking done; making oatmeal raisin, oatmeal chocolate chip. and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies plus divinity. My husband was on overnight shifts all week. I hate those shifts. They are a necessary evil, but I never sleep well when DH is on these shifts. The nice feature to these shifts is he is home during the day. On Wednesday we took advantage of that fact. We went shopping to get Toddler #1 some new boots. She was very excited! Then we had lunch at Chili’s as part
This past week was amazing. It was filled with family, love, and fun. As I noted in my last Sunday Summary, we were spending the week in Florida at my parents’ house. Most of our time was spent visiting with my mom and dad. Nothing spectacular, just time together. Isn’t that always the best? Not only did I get time with my parents, but I got some extra quality time with my husband. Grandma and Grandpa watched our girls so we could go to Mass on Sunday. It was the first time I enjoyed church in a long time. Then, on Tuesday,
What a week! So much happened that it feels more like 2 weeks passed than just one. In last week’s summary I mentioned that we were expecting lots of big thunderstorms. While my small town barely noticed any storms, the areas north and east of us were hit very hard. One town, Washington, IL, was hit by an EF-4 tornado, taking hundreds of homes. Other towns were affected too. In fact, the state of Illinois had 24 tornadoes touch down last Sunday. EF-4 tornadoes in Illinois are rare. Any tornadoes touching down in November is almost unheard of. I’m so
Today is going to be a crazy one. We are expecting lots of big thunderstorms so I’m a bit on edge. I normally LOVE thunderstorms, but this time the storms seem a bit more scary than usual. I’m ready to dash to the basement with my family on a moment’s notice. As usual, since I am a Weather Widow (i.e., wife to a NWS meteorologist), the weather radio is on. We are prepared. What a way to end a week! My week has been a combination of amazing and frustrating. My girls have been protesting sleep, at nap times and
Wow! We are fully in November now, heading full steam ahead to Thanksgiving! I love Thanksgiving. To me, Thanksgiving is all about spending time with family. This year, for the first time since I got married four years ago, I will be going to spend Thanksgiving with my family. We don’t leave for another couple of weeks, but I can’t wait! I’m getting very excited at the prospect of spending time with my parents, my niece and nephew, my sister and BIL, and my aunt and uncle. It has been a long time. I’ve missed that familial energy. My parents
This past week was a busy one! My family had a lot going on and a lot of preparation for my baby’s first birthday celebration (2 weeks early, but who’s counting?). I recently became an active member of the local chapter of MOMs Club International. There were a couple of activities I participated in this week. Monday morning we went to Ergadoozy, a local indoor activity center for kids. We spent over an hour there playing and “socializing”. (Okay, I socialized, my girls played.) Then Wednesday night, I had my first EVER moms’ night out. It was a painting party.
